Film Pre-review: American, The Bill Hicks Story
Opening first in New York on April 8th, comes a long bio-pic about one of the greatest comedians that ever lived, and one very few have ever heard of. That is because just as he was finally getting famous, he was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer at 32 years old. But this death sentence only took his humor further into the nether reaches of sensitive topics NO ONE would touch, with a irreverence that is both refreshing and at times shocking. But always gut-laughing funny. I have every record he every made, and can laugh at them over and over again, the sign of a true comedic genius. And don’t worry, the film has LOTS of footage of his priceless stand-up routines.
Bill Hicks was a fantastic talent, and a tragic loss, and this film is a MUST SEE! Let’s all go out and show Bill our support posthumously since so few of us had the chance during his life.. WARNING, if laughing hysterically may be detrimental to your health for some reason, do not go to this film. It is not for the weak of heart OR those easily offended.
