Eric Harrington – Almost 50 Blues

Almost 50 Blues
by Eric Harrington

I got the almost 50 blues…
I can’t feel comfortable without my $300.00 shoes.
I need a yacht, a mistress or an aeroplane
just to make me feel good…
But I don’t care, you know I paid my dues,
I got the almost 50 blues.

I got the almost 50 blues.
I’d go and climb a mountain if it didn’t hurt to climb the stairs
I have to take off my clothes just to cut my hair.
But it’s all right, I got everything to loose
I got the almost 50 blues….

Maybe I should pack up and move down south.
Just give up all my goals
wading through the shoals and sandy beaches…. collecting shells.
But what the hell would I do with them?
Make a fucking necklace?
I got the almost 50 blues..

I got the almost 50 blues…
I get so manic watching news
used to be a bubble was something beautiful and fun..
now just the mention makes me run
and bury another can of money in the back yard..
for a rainy day.
what happened to the days when just a good roof was enough?
I got the almost 50 blues,
I got the almost 50 blues..
